Mobile And Home Working. How To Be More Productive And Overcome Distractions

Home based working and mobile working are a ostensibly new trend . Many companies now allow home working in a form or another and some positively insist on mobile working as part of the travelling process.

A good trick with home working is to maintain the room you intend to be working in as free of outside influence as possible. This seems common sense but its quite easy to mix work related and non work related items on the same desk and then the temptation will always creep in to do your personal work and before you know it, whoops its 5.30 and you haven’t written a single email , or filled in a single form . Keep your workplace uncluttered and then you can only do what is in front of your, or on your netbook .

Another often overlooked trick to help you stay fixed on your work is to wear a fresh business suit complete with tie, or the female equivalent. Good Grief , I hear the shouts . Why on earth should I do that when I’m planning to be working from my home office on my Home Based Franchise business?

Well it’s a psychological trick for both you and people who stays with you including the family. It shows to others , and to yourself that you are at work. Thus when your family realises that you are in your business suit they know that you are at work and must not be approached for other little jobs as emptying the bins , helping with your kids homework , worming the cat or fixing the windows . You cannot be expected to do something other than what you are dressed for. You are at work. It’s a simple idea but often overlooked.

Mobile working presents its own problems but lets make the assumption here that you are working on a computer as part of the operation of a Home Based Franchise, say or maybe just keeping up with the paperwork for your business.

Maybe you have taken up a Franchise For Sale opportunity and have to do a bit of work on the move, or possibly your business requires that you travel substantially on the train. If you are on the train another little trick is to take your earphones and something to play music with – an MP3 player or play something on your laptop. Contrary to what the train companies would have you believe , grizzling babies, roaring drunks, noisy teenagers and annoying businessman on their mobile phones are not an uncommon feature on the train these days and listening to a piece of of music is often much more conducive to getting your work done than listening to what is going on around you.

Traditional business or Franchises are all going to have an aspect of mobile or home working as part of the business. Even if it’s just the accounts that need to be done by yourself (and that includes if you have started in an accounting Franchise For Sale) . Mobile working presents it’s own problems unless your business is actually a man plus van type of owner operator business , possibly on of the many Franchises,

Another rather neat trick is to plan your meals. Simple and obvious but cooking your own lunch can be something of a lengthy exercise and time is everything. Unless food is part of your business then try and keep it simple and nutritious . It’s not like there’s a canteen to go to and fill up on a subsidised basis. Your mealtimes and break times should be simple and functional . The trick with operating something like a Home Based Franchise is to remember that you are not on holiday. You are at work and it’s just the location of office that has changed. The same goes for mobile working. If you need to work while you’re on the move then it’s vital to retain your concentration amidst a sea of distraction.

These are all crucial rules that add up to a simple way of thinking to improving getting your daily work done instead of just wondering where the day has gone and why you haven’t achieved anything. Once again .
